United Buddy Bears arrive in Kuala Lumpur

The United Buddy Bears arrived on 8 December 2011 directly from Berlin and were warmly welcomed by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail.

The Bears promote living together in peace and harmony on their global tour. There are over 140 of these 2 m high bears, each representing a country of the United Nations and each designed by a local artist.

On 8 December, the Malaysian Bear (picture) was revealed by the Malaysian artist A. Rahim Muda and the initiator of the United Buddy Bear tour, Dr. Klaus Herlitz.

Buddy Bear activities have raised around €1,800,000 (November 2011) through donations and auctions in aid of UNICEF and local children’s relief organisations.

You can visit the exhibition until 15 February 2012 on Jalan Bukit Bintang, in front of the Pavilion shopping center.
