Pre Xmas Concert at the German Residence
It was in the evening of 14th December 2011, when the sounds of Mozart and Mendelssohn filled the great hall of the German Residence. Ambassador Dr. Guenter Gruber warmly welcomed the Karlsruher Konzert Duo, cellist Reinhard Armleder and pianist Dagmar Hartmann, and the over 100 guests, who had come to enjoy this very special musical treat.
Since 1998, the two musicians have performed in over 30 countries, covering all continents. Their 2011 year-end concert tour brought them to four Southeast Asian countries.
The evening’s programme included pieces by Mozart, Schumann, Mendelssohn, de Falla and Rostropovitch, amongst others they performed “Seven Variations”, “Three Fantasy Pieces”, “Song without Words”, “Polonaise Brillante”, “Piéce en Forme de Habanera”, “La Vida Breve: Primera danza española”, and “Le Grand Tango (1982)”.
The Karlsruher Duo did an excellent job in fascinating the audience by their depth of interpretation, brilliant technique and their imaginative choice of programme. To quote a specialist publication: “… a duo with such a fortunate and intense combination of a kindred approach to music and interaction with their instruments is rarely to be found.”
