Ambassador Dr. Guenter Gruber opens "Cool Art - Climate Change" Art Exhibition
On 2 March 2011, Ambassador Dr. Guenter Gruber opened the Cool Art - Climate Change Art Exhibition at the White Box @ MAP Solaris Dutamas art gallery.
Climate Change - a topic close to the 'green' ambassador's heart - was presented in the form of an art competition, where students from Tertiary Institutions were invited to enter. The competition was supported by the German Embassy and the Goethe-Institut Malaysia. The three main prize winners and 12 special mentions were selected by a jury from 358 entries and received monetary prizes.
Many young people came to show support to the young artists.
Ms. Khairunnisa, a representative of the Malaysian Youth Climate Justice Network, gave a very personal account of her journey towards climate awareness. The Malaysian guest of honour was Dr. Gary William Theseira, Under Secretary Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
