Bilateral Cultural Relations

The Embassy's Cultural Department coordinates German cultural policy in Malaysia, promotes German language and German studies and supports exchange programmes within its consular district. The Cultural Department contributes organisational or financial assistance to cultural events of various kinds. Requests regarding support for specific cultural events (music, theatre, dance, exhibitions, performances, etc.) can also be directed to the Goethe Institut Kuala Lumpur.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with its "Kuala Lumpur Counselling Centre for Higher Education in Germany" is  also an important link between the two nations.

The association Afghan Rehabilitation Group e.V. is keen to provide women with vocational training and employment.

The Cultural Preservation Programme of the Federal Foreign Office

Since 1981 the Federal Republic of Germany has supported the preservation of cultural heritage across the world through the Federal Foreign Office’s Cultural Preservation Programme, with the aim of strengthening people’s sense of their own national identity in the partner country and fostering cultural dialogue among partners. The Programme has become a very effective instrument of German cultural relations and education policy.
