Economic Cooperation and Micro Project Fund
Malaysia is making every effort to translate its "Vision 2020" into concrete action in order to change from an extended workbench to a knowledge based economy. For quite some time now, Malaysia no longer receives development aid from Germany.
What is needed, still, amongst others, is qualified training, specialized technical equipment and automatisation - especially in small and medium sized entreprises - more research and development, and willingness for know-how transfer.
The German-Malaysian development programmes - under the GIZ - in education and training, the result of which was the German-Malaysian Institute, fitted right into this concept.
Clean Air and the environment (forestry) were further focal points of cooperation.
