Opening of Fresenius Production Plant
On Thursday, 7 September 2017, the German company Fresenius Medical Care opened its new regional manufacturing plant in Bandar Enstek. One of the invited VIPs was the German Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Carsten Fischer.
The plant has a capacity to produce five million bags of Continuous Ambulotary Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) a year, which will be used for end stage kidney failure patients. In the future, the production is planned to be increased up to 25 million bags a year.
The products will serve the Malaysian market and also be exported to other countries in the South-East Asian region, Chief Executive Officer of Fresenius Medical Care Asia-Pacific, Mr. Harry de Wit said. The German company will therefore contribute to the Malaysian economy in terms of investments, employment and exports.
Health Ministry Secretary-General, Datuk Dr Chen Chaw Min, who also joined the opening, called the investment an important milestone and complimented Fresenius Medical Care for making the best treatment locally available now, without the need to import. Besides, the production will bring new knowledge and the latest state-of-the-art technology and equipment to the country.
After the opening ceremony, all the invited guests were given an interesting tour of the new production plant.
