The Saarland: German "Cili Padi" in Kuala Lumpur
Deputy Minister Joachim Kiefaber from the Ministry of Economics and Science of the Federal State of Saarland visited Malaysia from 12.11. - 16.11.2011. Representatives of 13 companies were part of his delegation.
The Deputy Minister had bilateral talks with Dato' Mukhriz Mahathir, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and met with Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Khatijah Mohd. Yusoff, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
He learned that states like Penang or Melaka were refered to as "Cili Padi States" in Malaysia, as they were small, but powerful. He found this to be a very fitting attribute for the Saarland as well.
Mr. Kiefaber also opened a Business Matching session and the “Invest in Saarland” Conference, organised by the MGCC, attended a working lunch with German business representatives and welcomed over 100 guests at the German Ambassador's Residence.
