New Energy for Malaysian-German Relations
Mr. Ernst-Christoph Stolper, Deputy Minister of the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Climate Protection, Energy and Regional Planning of the Federal State of Rheinland-Pfalz visited Malaysia from 17 - 20 March 2012, accompanied by a business delegation.
In talks with Deputy Minister of Trade, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir and Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Loo Took Gee, the Malaysian parties were very interested to learn more about the German experiences with establishing renewable forms of energy and renouncing nuclear energy. The State of Rheinland-Pfalz wants to produce all locally-used electricity by renewable means by the year 2030.
During the visit to the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), the Chief Corporate Officer, Ms. Wei-nee Chen, gave a briefing about SEDA’s history and it's future tasks.
The busy programme of Deputy Minister Stolper also saw him launching a business matching event and a workshop entitled "From Waste to Value - Concepts for the use of biomass from palm oil production and from other industries", organised by the Malaysian-German Chamber, which were well received by the participants.
A reception at the Residence and a visit of the Malaysian factory Q-Cells, a solar panel manufacturer, concluded the delegation’s programme.
