Member of the German Parliament, MP Juergen Klimke, visits Malaysia
Member of the German Parliament, Mr. Juergen Klimke from Hamburg, paid a 2-day visit to Malaysia from 19 - 20 August 2010, and met with representatives from the Malaysian government, parliament, the economic sector and civil society.
MP Klimke is a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committees on Foreign Affairs, Development Cooperation and Human Rights, as well as spokesperson for South East Asian affairs.
Mr. Klimke had an exchange on bilateral relations and on regional foreign policy issues with Deputy Foreign Minister, Datuk Richard Riot anak Jaem. He met with the Secretary General of the Ministry for Energy, Green Technology and Water, Mrs. Loo Took Lee for a talk on bilateral Malaysian-German cooperation in the area of renewable energy and also encountered Geman business representatives working in that sector. In meetings with members of parliament, civil society and human rights organizations both sides had a chance to compare approaches to topical political and social issues.
