Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the CDU/CSU party of the German Parliament, Volker Kauder, visits Malaysia

On 26 August 2010, the Chairman of the parliamentary group of the governing CDU/CSU party of the German Parliament, Member of Parliament Volker Kauder, paid a one-day visit to Malaysia.
He was accompanied by a high ranking delegation, consisting  - amongst others -  of the Spokesperson and the Deputy Spokesperson for Foreign and Security Policy, MP Philipp Missfelder and MP Dr. Andreas Schockenhoff. They familiarized themselves with recent developments in the country and the region and received first hand impressions about the state of Malaysian-German relations.

The highlight of the visit was a meeting with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, HE Dato' Sri Haji Mohd Najib, for an exchange on bilateral issues and current global affairs.
The MPs also paid a courtesy visit to Foreign Minister Dato' Anifah bin Haji Aman.
A discussion with German business representatives  and a luncheon with members of civil society and religious communities completed their stay.

Germany is Malaysia's 9th largest trading partner, the biggest among the European Union. Numerous links in the economic, political, cultural and scientific areas exist between the two countries.
